Week 1 Epilogue - Chaos vs Necrons - Chaos Lord Dreagher

Chaos Lord Dreagher , the Exalted Champion of the Khorne Daemonkin, watched his men face off against the Necrons.  Rumours of the metal men in the west were true and their presence would hamper his progress to ascension.  His lieutenant Gallowbraid, the self-appointed leader of the Stygian Claws, was in the Imperial Hive city, sowing discord and gathering his cultist to his cause.  Dreagher smirked, as he was Daemonkin.  It mattered not where the blood came, just as long as it flowed, flowed to please his master, Khorne, and in return, Daemonhood would reward him.  Fools, but useful fools nonetheless.

These Necrons had no blood in them.  All they are are machines, machines driven by an unknown will.  He has faced them before and did not come out unscathed.  The large scar across his abdomen proved that.  He barely survived, only through the help of the Apothecarion, but in his fugue state, he learned the power of Khorne and was granted the gift of champion in his name.  How ironic that fate would bring him face to face with the Necrons again.

The Necrons were awakening, clawing and teleporting themselves onto the battlefield.  Their commander was perched high upon a spider-like throne with legs.  Dreagher knew he could not underestimate them, but kept this to himself.  This mission was after all, instigated by that incessant Whisperer, whom he tolerated, only barely.  Supposedly to be a messenger of Khorne, he unexpentantly provided them a Sorcerer, Sarsmersix the Asphyxious, to accompany them, claiming that the Sorcerer had a way to deal with the Necrons.  Suspicious yes, but he has proven effective for many battles.  Dreagher decided to trust him… for now.

Sarsmersix’s presence was uncomfortable for his men.  Those who follow the path of Khorne have little tolerance for these witch-kin.  Keeping his distance, Sarsmersix made his way down into the battlefield via Jump Pack, using his warp-spawned powers to survey the Necrons.  He did passingly mention that these Necrons were different.  Tainted even.  But all that was witch-talk to Dreagher .  Dreagher just wanted to see them out of his way.

The Necrons seemed more organised than when he first encountered them. Them there were only the automatons that he assumed were just foot troops.  This time he witnessed the Spider creature commanding them clearly, with other more heavily armed Necrons that hovered. Lastly, a slew of insectoid Necrons skulked around.

Blood-thirsty Possessed warriors raced down escarpment, engaging the Whip-tailed insectoid Necrons.  They fought hard, but their blows could not land enough to do damage.  Their blows seemed to go through the Necrons, as those they Necrons were phasing in and out of existence.  Their return attacks stuck home, killing the Possessed Marines, whose minds were probably by then too far lost into bloodlust to realise their demise.  They were still hacking away as their bodies were sliced into pieces, the parts still twitching independently with lives of their own as they hit the ground.  More possessed arrived to avenge their brethren, locking the Wraiths down in combat.

The Helldrake took down a number of the hovering Necrons with impunity, their weapons and hover tech lacking the range to harm the fell flying beast.

Warp Talons, lured in by the din of battle struck hard against the tiny scarab-like creatures infesting the ruins.  Against their warp armour, the scarabs were ineffective.  Despite the ability to slice through armour with ease, against the swarm, the Warp Talons efforts were taxed to their limited.  Distracted, they were laid low by the remaining Hover Necrons.

The same Hover Necrons were on a roll, sweeping into the combat that engaged the Wraiths, finally freeing the Wraiths to pursue the enemy.

Noticing the lone Sorcerer, the Necrons advanced towards him.  Suddenly, with a flash of light, Obliterators teleported in to protect Sarsmersix but we attacked by another squad of hovering Necrons.
The Helldrake assisted but assaulted by the freed up Wraiths.

On the chaos side, the Forge Fiend took out the Necron Command Stalker with a burst of its Hades Cannon.  With their command structure in disarray, the Necrons faltered but still held strong.

Seeing his forces in disarray, and with a slight tinge of duty to protect Sarsmersix, Lord Dreagher entered the field.  The remaining Necrons put up a hard fight but were unable to take him out as he ploughed through the warriors.  There he stood alone, the Necrons routed, watching as Sarsmersix made his escape.  He better pray that all of this was worth it.
